I was employed with Novi Technology over a sixteen month period during my Co-op work term. During my employment I provided support for an MFC based x-ray luggage inspection application as well as a human inspection application. This support ranged from development of new features such as the ability to read settings from a configuration file or the addition of multi-language support, to diagnosing, isolating and repairing application bugs.
Since the completion of my Software Engineering Technology Diploma I have returned to Novi Technology to resume my duties.
I was a peer tutor with Conestoga College throughout my second year of studies. My duties included reviewing course materials with students in one-on-one basis as well as providing demonstrations of working code related to C, C++, data structures and algorithms.
I was employed at Nordia and Marusa marketing as an inbound customer service representative working in post-paid cellular service billing. While working for Nordia I handled calls for Bell Mobility, with Marusa Marketing, Sprint. At both jobs my duties included resolving billing disputes and basic trouble shooting.
As an assistant trainer my duties included providing assistance during training sessions as well as assistance in developing new teaching materials. Other duties included demonstration of call handling techniques on live calls as well as initial supervision of trainees as they transitioned to active phone duties.
As a distress line volunteer I answered a variety of calls, providing emotional support to callers as well as referrals to resources appropriate to their needs. My training focused on the development of active listening skills and developing knowledge of local resources, however I was also able to take the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) while volunteering.
As a distress/crisis line volunteer I answered a wide variety of calls from many different callers. Training focused on referral to resources such as the local Mobile Crisis Team, as well as de-escalation techniques.
As a peer help line volunteer I answered a variety of calls from fellow students, providing emotional support via active listening as well as referrals to appropriate resources as needed.
